الهجرُ يضحكُ وَالهوى يبكي

والوَصلُ بَينَهُما على هُلْكِ

Separation laughs while love cries

And between them destruction lurks

يا جَنَّتي ما كُنتُ أَحسَبُ أنْ

أصلى جَحيمَ قَطيعَةٍ مِنكِ

O my garden, I never thought

I'd suffer the hell of parting from you

لِلَّه عَينٌ مِنكِ مُخبِرَةٌ

عَنِّي بِكُلِّ سَريرَةٍ عَنكِ

God has an eye informing Him

Of my every secret regarding you

عَجَبي لِلَفظٍ مِنكِ ذي نُسُكٍ

هَذا وَلَحظُكِ حاضِرُ الفَتكِ

Wondrous is your guarded speech

While your glance is present and deadly

وَسَلبتِ قَلبي مِن حَشايَ فَهلْ

لَكِ في القلوبِ صِناعَةُ الدكِّ

You've stolen my heart from my ribs, so do

Hearts have the craft of piercing for you?

أَغزالةَ الفلكِ الَّتي عَبَقَتْ

مِسكاً فَقُلتُ غَزالةُ المِسكِ

Does musk Gazelle of the cosmos

Gazelle of musk, I called you

إِن دامَ هَجْرُكِ لي بلا سَبَبٍ

فَلأنتِ قاتِلَتِي بِلا شكِّ

If your estrangement of me without cause endures

You're undoubtedly my murderess, no doubt
