وَمُنَسَّمِ الآذيِّ يُعنِقُ شَطُّهُ

من نكبةٍ هوجاءَ حُلّ وثاقُها

And tired of injury, its bank embraces

Its surging flood unleashed from a huge disaster

وكأنَّما رأتِ الحِقاقَ فَعَجعَجَت

فيها القرومُ وأزبدت أشداقها

As though it saw wrongdoing and was turbulent

The skulls in it frothed and its jaws foamed
