رُوَيْدَكِ يا معذِّبَةَ القلوبِ
أما تَخْشَينَ من كسْبِ الذنوبِ
Slow down, O tormentor of hearts,
Do you not fear incurring sins?
متى يُجْري طلوعُكِ في جفوني
سنا شمسٍ مواصلةِ الغروبِ
When will your sunrise flow in my eyelids,
Like a continuous setting sun?
وكم تُبْلي الكروبُ عليك جسمي
ألا فَرَجٌ لديك من الكروبِ
How much sorrow does your body cause me!
Is there no relief from sorrow for you?
وأنْتِ قدحتِ في أعشارِ قلبي
بسهميك المُعلّى والرّقيبِ
You who stirred up the regions of my heart
With your raised, observant arrows.
ولم أسمع بأنّ عيونَ عِينٍ
تُفيضُ سهامَهُنَّ على القلوبِ
I've not heard that the eyes of a maiden
Shoot their arrows at hearts.
