وذاتِ عَيْنٍ من الغزلان فاترَةٍ

كأنّما السحرُ فيها همَّ بالوَسَنِ

With languid gazelle eyes as if magic

Had wished to adorn them with kohl

لها سنانٌ من الألحاظِ صَعْدَتُهُ

غُصْنٌ يميسُ برمّانٍ من الفتنِ

Teeth like glancing rays whose whiteness

Is a blossoming branch of temptation

حُسّانةُ الجيدِ في خَلْقٍ تَقومُ به

فتعجَبُ الشمسُ من تقويمه الحسنِ

A smooth cheek whose creation amazes

The sun with its flawless arrangement

هَنّتْ بلحظٍ ولفظٍ فالهوى بهما

يخوض قلبي من عيني ومن أذني

With a glance and words that inclined me

My heart plunged through my eyes and ears

تَيّاهةُ الدلّ لا تنفكّ في فَرَحٍ

إذا رأتني من الهجرانِ في حزنِ

Her flirtatious eyes in constant joy

When she saw me sad from her disdain

تحركي وسكوني عن إرادتها

كأنّ روحَ هواها مالكٌ بدني

My moves and stillness by her will

As if the spirit of her love controlled my body
