في غَايةِ الحُسنِ شَوابيرهُ
Tell me—this soft pointed cap of yours,
its tassels the very pinnacle of beauty—
مَا ضرهُ إِذْ جَاء فَصلُ الشِّتَا
ء لَوْ أنَّ شَعَرَ استِيّ سمُّورهُ
what harm would it have suffered when winter’s season came,
if your hair had been borrowed for its sable-fur lining?
