إِذا يئسَ المرءُ من أَيرِهِ

رأَت عِرْسُهُ اليأس من خيرهِ

When a man despairs of his own worth

Despair of his goodness comes to light

ومن كانَ في سنِّهِ طاعِناً

فقد عدمَ الطعنَ في غيرِهِ

And he who in his age finds fault

Ceases to see defects in others
