The old talk has not ceased to amuse itself

Teaching it to the great old men

A whim that slaps Al-Farazdaq in poetry

And intends to rebuke Umm Al-Kisaa'i

Except I have come to lose among the people

More than the full moon on winter nights

A man claims prophecy in foolishness

And who would doubt the prophets?

He came with miracles calling to them

So respond, O assembly of fools
