جاريةٌ أرض نبات استها

رقيقةُ التربة خواره

A land whose plants have withered

Of delicate soil and desolate expanse

تسبح في جانب مفساتها

عين خرا بالعرض خراره

A spring flows along its hillside

With wide eyes peering through the rocks

كأن لي منها على عاتقي

كراع شاة فوق قناره

As though it placed upon my shoulders

A lamb's leg on a cooking pot
