قد وقع المنع والحجاب معاً

فكل من رام بابكم صفعا

Both prohibition and veil fell together,

So whoever sought your door was driven away.

وافيته طامعاً لأدخله

ولم أكن قط أحمد الطمعا

I came to it with hope to enter,

Yet I never approved of greed.

فواثبوني جهلاً بمرتبتي

في تحيث أشكو الصداع والصلعا

They attacked me in ignorance of my status

When I complain of headache and baldness.

لا تطلبوا بعدها مواصلتي

فإن حبل الوصال قد قطعا

Do not seek after this my companionship,

For the rope of communion is cut off.
