Many a soft and weakling man, his glances
Are like banners of warning on the day of strife.
He passed the wine-cup round and it intoxicated me,
So I seized the bright star from the hand of the crescent moon.
When I drink it seems I feel the pleasure
Al-Mansur knew in bestowing gifts and largesse.
