An endeavor whose success brought joy before its end,
And a day of prosperity made us see victory before tomorrow.
With an army whose lances filled the horizon,
And a leader whose pagan allies filled his hands.
Calling to the call of Islam to support it,
So who can rely on the likes of one who relies on him?
How many hearts, bodies, and sights
Were dazzled by him from afar and from near.
Tomorrow the auspicious protector will gather his troops,
With victory, patience, and faith from his aid.
You were like that, O Mansur, and your father,
And God will show you the like in your son.
You sired him amidst the meadow of kingship,
A towering tree reaching to the heights.
Its fruits are near, picked from the gardens,
And the flowers of its buds have spilled onto its cloth.
So it nursed him the breast of war in hardship,
Above a cradle of youth seeking its purpose.
Where the horses’ noses met and the chests of wrath embraced,
Melting rock with its flame.
Traveling for your order, not for night in its devotion,
Nor for a star in its absence.
Mobilizing in God’s cause an army of guidance,
Obedience and compliance to the Victorious from its numbers.
For he who built the dome of utmost splendor,
Making the kingdom elevated upon its pillars.
Inheritor of the kingdom from its loyal subjects,
And the sword from his life, and captives from his violence,
And victory from the efforts of uncles who were created
To help the Owner of the Throne at Badr and Uhud.
Strengthening the bonds of Islam if they are broken,
For the calamities of fate cannot loosen its knots.
The horsemen’s leader, preparing regiments
With his patience in war and his valor.
Guiding its valleys while night gathers,
With the guidance Islam enlightened in its path.
How different are your nights, O Mansur, charging through,
From the night of one restless in his lust and desire!
Not like the dawn of one happy in a pleasant meadow
From the dawn of one made blissful by Islam in his core!
Traveling to the enemy’s negligence, seeking it out
When the seductions of life waver in its luxury.
Making comfortable in God’s cause, protecting him
A Lord who brought sleep to the eyes of religion in its folds.
Loyal to the pillars of endless afflictions with it,
With the kingdom, religion and world upon its pillar.
The winds fall short of the course of its battalions,
As the angels fell short of its term.
The seas of its abundance in the horizons are abundant,
Its puddles can compete with the water birds in their plenty.
A drinker making the water-skins of the deserts tasty when
Drinking the enemies’ blood was not of its customs.
Until at each battle the lances shriek
A shriek that affirms the path of religion in its fervor.
And it snatches the souls of the tyrant kings as
In peace, its abundance is permitted to the critic.
Where it raises the leather of the spears with their blood,
And the bodies of oppressors dissolve into its bodies.
And the eye of sun squints through its cloud,
As an eyelid is weighed down by its rheum.
It does not refrain from generosity on a day of fight,
Nor is absent on a day of its call, a day of effort.
As if it dies with weaponry from his hands extending,
And its loyalists of blood call it,
Those with intellect among them and those with rage.
Struggling, written in the guarded tablet,
And we recorded through the efforts of the son of Yaḥyā and the ascent of his hand.
He etches them with the quills of destiny,
Carving into every breast harbouring the creed of blasphemy.
And he bends into the breasts of the non-Arabs, confusing them
With the blades of all the fiery West.
And the kingdom transcribes them in the mother of its pride,
While time recites them at the end of its extent.
Shepherding kings, so strangled by his domination,
Wandering the earth or finding refuge in his protection.
So such is the soul of Ibn Shanj, it has no refuge
From a death by sword or life of misery.
He ascends in nobility only by your elevation,
A face of dignity, raised up for its shrewdness.
And gains no land except you tied to it
A concern that deprives it of its comforts.
And Ferdinand you restored the rule to his hand,
And he hoped for naught but the return of life to his body.
Shibl called you for a lion above him is wretchedness,
So it recoiled from him while claws were in its wretchedness.
And he flew to you swimming in his tears,
Having loaded his chest to the full from his store.
Then he bent, with the pagan kings enslaved to him
When a slave came throwing his hand to him.
And Mansur of Qahtan came with his might,
At which the kings of earth melt with envy.
So God diminishes His enemies forever,
And increases Islam in its numbers.
