وَرومِيَّةٍ في الدارِ عِندي عَزيزَةٍ

تَفوتُ القَنا الخَطِّيَّ طولاً وَشَكلُها
يُوازي الغُلامَ الطِفلَ في شدّةِ القِصَر
She misses the narrow canal, exceedingly long

وَأَحبَبتُ يَوماً أَن أَراها بِحِليَةٍ
فَصُغتُ لَها تاجاً وَلكِنَّهُ حَجَر
One day I wanted to see her adorned
So I made her a crown, but it was too big
