إِنَّ وَعظَ الجَوزِيِّ في المَسجِدِ الجا

مِعِ وَعظٌ مُزَهَّدٌ في الدينِ

مِعِ وَعظٌ مُزَهَّدٌ في الدينِ

Indeed, al-Jawzi’s sermon in the congrega—

—tional mosque is the sermon of one who makes people shun religion.

كُلَّما غازَلَتهُ مِنهُ فَتاةٌ

كُلَّما غازَلَتهُ مِنهُ فَتاةٌ

ماسَ عُجباً وَأَرسَلَ الزَنكَلوني

ماسَ عُجباً وَأَرسَلَ الزَنكَلوني

Whenever a maiden from there flirted with him,

he strutted in self-admiration and let his Zankaluni garment trail.
