كَم ذا التَّبَظرُمُ زائِداً عَن حَدِّهِ

ما كانَ قَبلكَ هَكَذا الحُدبانُ

How excessive is this boastfulness beyond proper bounds

Never before were the humps like this

فَحِرِ امّ مُلكٍ أَنتَ مالِكُ أَمرِهِ

مَن أَنتَ يا هذا وَما بيسانُ

Take care, O mother of a king, you are the owner of his affair

Who are you, O this one, and what is fantasy?

أَظهَرتَ فَضلَ تُقىً وَفَضلَ تَعَفُّفٍ

وَاللَهُ يَعلَمُ أَنَّهُ بُهتانُ

You have shown excessive piety and excessive chastity

And Allah knows it is lies

ما طالَ في اللَيلِ البَهيمِ سُجودُهُ

إِلّا لِيَركَعَ فَوقَهُ السودانُ

Not long does the beast prostrate in the night

Except for the black ones to bow over it

فَإِذا سَمِعتَ سَمِعتَ أَمراً مُنكَراً

وَإِذا رَأَيتَ رَأَيتَ لا إِنسانُ

So if you hear, you hear an abhorrent thing

And if you see, you see no human
