نَبتانِ هذا أَصلُهُ سامِقٌ

قاسٍ وَذا مِن خائِرٍ قاصِرِ

Two plants, one with a towering origin

Hard and unyielding, the other bending feebly

أَيُّهُما صَحَّفتَ مَعكوسَهُ

دَلَّ بِلا شَكٍّ عَلى الآخَرِ

Which of them did you wrongly reverse

Undoubtedly indicating the other
