أَيُّها العالِمُ الرَئيسُ أَجِبني

عَن سُؤالي فَأَنتَ رَبُّ المَعاني

O Master President, answer my question,

For you are the Lord of meanings,

أَعجَزَتني ثَلاثَةٌ وَهيَ خَمسٌ

مُشكِلاتٌ ما لَم تُنَط بِثَماني

Three yet five have stumped me,

Problems that have not been untied with eight,

فَإِذا ما عَكَستَها ثُمَّ صَحَّفـ

ـتَ غَدَت واحِداً مِنَ الحَيَوانِ

Yet if you reverse then misspell them,

They become one of the animals.
