1. صَعِدَ الدينُ يَستَغيثُ إِلى اللَـ

    ـهِ وَقالَ الأَنامُ قَد ظَلَموني

    Religion cried out, beseeching God, and people said, "We have been wronged!"

    They attributed themselves to me, and by your truth, I do not recognize anyone among them, nor do they recognize me.

  2. يَتَسَمَّونَ بي وَحَقِّكَ لا أَعـ

    ـرِفُ شَخصاً مِنهُم وَلا يَعرِفوني

    They made the son of Misri my crown, and if he were but a sandal strap, they would not have done me justice.

    Then they said, “Bakri is my master,” just as they said it and described it, “My face is dark-complexioned.”

  3. جَعَلوا اِبنَ المَصرِيِّ تاجي وَلَو كا

    نَ شِراكاً لِلنَعلِ لَم يُنصِفوني

  4. ثُمَّ قالوا البَكرِيُّ صَدري كَما قا

    لوا وَفالوا وَوَجهيَ الزَنكَلوني
