1. بِقَلبك يا غافِلاً فَاِنظُر

    وَعَينَيك غَمِّضهما تُبصِر

    Look with your heart, O heedless one,

    And close your eyes; you will truly see.

  2. إِذا أُرسِل الطَرفُ هامَ الفُؤاد

    وَبَعض المَرائي عَمى البَصَر

    If the gaze is set free, the heart wanders astray,

    And some sights are but blindness to the vision.

  3. وَآفةُ قلب الفَتى عَينهُ

    فإِن تَرعَ قَلبك لا تنظُر

    The bane of a young man's heart is his eye,

    So if you would guard your heart, do not look.
