أَبكى الفَتى بَعدَ الخَليطِ مَربَعُه

وَكادَ وَجدُ القَلبِ مِنهُ يَصرَعُه

The youth wept after the commotion, his heart nearly burst

Tears flowed like rivers, his lovesick heart they will surely fell

حَتَّى جَرى جَريَ الجُمانِ أَدمُعُه

وَالحُبُّ داءٌ عاجِلاً سَيَصرَعُه

Long has he cried, if only that could help

For the love of she who pleases him and he pleases her

طالَ البُكا لَو أَنَّ ذاكَ يَنفَعُه

مِن حُبِّ مَن يقنعها وَتقنِعُهُ

God has made them crave each other, and made them crave

He will not abandon her, nor will she abandon him

أَولَعَها اللَّهُ بِهِ وَأَولَعَه

فَلَيسَ يَجفوها وَلَيسَت تَقطَعُه

She is not like those who would deceive and be deceived

With empty promises that lead nowhere

لَيسَت كَمَن يَخدَعُها وَتَخدَعُه

يُطمِعُها بِباطِلٍ وَتطمِعُه

But she has his companionship completely

So they share a bed and share their rest

لكِن لَها مِنهُ الوِصالُ أَجمَعُه

فَمَضجَع مَضجَعها وَمَضجَعُه

Lifting her up and she lifting him

God will gather them together again when they have passed

يَرفَعُها طوراً وَطوراً تَرفَعُه

يَحشُرُها اللَّهُ إِذا ماتَت مَعُه
