يا ناذرينَ الصوم يومَ شفائِهِ
لوْ تفقهونَ لكانَ نذرَ سجودِ
O you who observe the fever on the day of his recovery,
Had you understood, it would call for a vow of prostration.
إني نذرتُ على مخالفتي لكم
فطراً فكيف أصوم يومَ العيدِ
Indeed, I vowed—in defiance of you all—
to break my fast; so how could I fast on Eid?
