بأبي أعورُ عينٍ أنورٌ
مثلُ بدرِ التمِّ والبدرُ بعين
By my father, who though one-eyed, possesses a luminous vision
Like the full moon but the full moon through his eye
طرفُهُ الواحدُ عضبٌ ذكرٌ
فلهُ في الحسنِ حظُّ الأنثيينِ
His singular gaze is a male, angry and glorious
So in beauty he claims the fortune of both sexes
