خطبتُ مجَّاناً وما عيشتي

إلا بحرثِ السكةِ الصلبهْ

Roamed freely, though I lived by

Plowing the hard path,

فناظرُ الوقفِ صديقٌ لمن

يقنعُ بالسكةِ والخطبهْ

So the surveyor of the waqf is friend to him

Who's content with the path and speech.
