زنارُ بنتِ النصارى

فخٌّ لها أيُّ فخِّ

فخٌّ لها أيُّ فخِّ

The Christian maiden’s girdle—

a snare of hers—what a snare!

أرخانيَ الشدُّ منْهُ

أرخانيَ الشدُّ منْهُ

وكثرةُ الشدِّ ترخي

وكثرةُ الشدِّ ترخي

Her tightening has loosened me;

and too much tightening loosens.
