مُجالِسٌ مؤتَمَنٌ
يحملُ عني الكَلَفا
My companion is my trusted confidant;
he bears my burdens for me.
يأتي إذا جالسني
بالكبرا والخَلَفا
Whenever he sits with me, he comes
with the great and the caliphs.
أراهُ لي في خلوتي
عنْ كلِّ خلٍّ خَلَفَا
In my solitude, I regard him as
a substitute for every friend.
