واعجبا من طول ليلي وقدْ

زارَ حبيبٌ فاقَ ظبيَ الفلا

How wondrous, the length of my night—even after

my beloved visited, surpassing the gazelle of the open wild.

ألقى على الليلِ ذؤاباتِهِ

فما استطاعَ الصبحُ أن يدخلا

He cast his tresses over the night,

and so the dawn could not enter.
