1. طارتْ لقلعِ القلاعِ زلزلةٌ

    ما خشيتْ رامياً ولا صائدْ

    An earthquake shook the foundations of fortresses,

    Fearing no archer or hunter.

  2. إذا درى الحصنُ مَنْ رماهُ بها

    خرَّ لهُ في أساسهِ ساجدْ

    When the citadel knew who cast it,

    It fell prostrate at its base in homage.

  3. إنْ هربوا أُدركوا وإن وقفوا

    خشوا ذهابَ الطريفِ والتالدْ

    If they flee they shall be caught, if they stand still

    They shall fear the loss of the sharp and taut bowstring.

  4. فالأمرُ للهِ رُبَّ مجتهدٍ

    ما خابَ إلاّ لأنَّهُ جاهدْ

    For the command belongs to God, Lord of all who strive;

    None fails except for he who struggles vainly.
