مَنْ وليَ الحسبةَ يصبرْ على

تعرُّضِ الواقفِ والسائرِ

Whoever takes charge of the ḥisba must patiently endure

the objections of all who stand and all who pass by;

فليسَ يحظى بالمنى والغنى

فيهم سوى المحتسبِ الصابرِ

for none attains his hopes and prosperity

among them save the patient muḥtasib.
