بأبي مخيِّلَةٌ إذا رقصتْ
رَقَصَ الفؤادُ ونقَّطَ الدمعُ
May my father be her ransom—a proud beauty when she dances:
The heart dances, and tears fall drop after drop.
رَفَعَتْ نقابَ الحسنِ ثم شَدَتْ
فافتنَّ فيها الطرفُ والسمعُ
She raises beauty’s veil, and then she sings;
And eye and ear alike are captivated by her.
