خَوْدٌ جَلَتْ للشيخِ كاساتِها

تزفُّها بالدفِّ والجنكِ

A fair maiden presented her cups to the sheikh,

Leading them in bridal procession, with tambourine and harp.

قالتْ ترى العفةَ عنْ هذِهِ

فقالَ لا عنها ولا عنْكِ

She said, “Do you think you can abstain from these?”

He answered, “No—not from them, nor from you.”
