1. أزهرُ أفقٍ أمِ الأزهارُ والغُدُرُ

    كتابكُمْ أمْ سرورُ النفسِ والوطرُ

    The dawn of a horizon, mother of flowers and deceits

    Is your book the joy of soul and rapture

  2. قرأتُهُ فجرى في كلِّ جارحةٍ

    كأنَّما أنا وَهْوَ الماءُ والشجرُ

    I read it and it flowed in every limb

    As if I and it were water and trees

  3. للهِ ألفاظُهُ الغرُّ العِذابُ فقدْ

    علَتْ على الدرِّ أينَ القدرُ والكبرُ

    To God belong its enchanting, tormenting words

    They rose above pearls, where is might and greatness?

  4. فمنْ يقلْ هي كالدرِّ الثمينِ فقلْ

    أخطأتَ إنْ لم تقلْ عنها ولا صغرُ

    Whoever says it's like precious pearls, say to him

    You missed it if you did not say about it, not even less

  5. مولايَ كلَّ لساني عن جوابكَ وال

    مأمولُ تمهيدُ عذري حينَ أعتذرُ

    My Master, my tongue falls short of answering you

    And there is no hope that my apology will excuse me

  6. وإنما أنا عبدٌ من عبيدِكَ مِنْ

    دأبي ابتداءً دعاءٌ صدقُهُ خَبَرُ

    I'm just a servant among your servants

    My habit from the start is a sincere prayer that informs

  7. لو حطَّ رحلي فوقَ النجمِ رافعُهُ

    ألفيتُ ثمَّ خيالاً منك ينتظرُ

    If I pitched my tent above the stars raising it

    I'd still find an illusion of you waiting there

  8. وسرعةُ القاصدِ الميمونِ طائرُهُ

    هيَ اقتضتْ أنني في القولِ أختصرُ

    And the blessed traveler's speed, his bird

    Made me opt for brevity in speech

  9. كتبْتُها وَهْوَ مجتازٌ على سفرٍ

    ما حالُ نظمٍ إذا ما أعجلَ السفرُ

    I wrote it while he was crossing on a journey

    What's the state of poetry when travels hasten?

  10. لا زلتَ يجبرُ قلباً أنتَ ساكنُهُ

    ولا تزالُ بكَ العلياءُ تفتخرُ

    You still comfort a heart of which you are resident

    And through you the sublime continue to take pride
