ألثغُ بالراءِ زارَ بيتي

فجاءَنا حاسدٌ وأصغى

The slanderer came to my house with evil

قلتُ أفقْ فالحسودُ برَّا

قال أفقْ فالحسودُ بغَّا

I said, awake, for the envious are virtuous

He said, awake, for the envious seek harm
