1. ألا رُبَّ طبّاخٍ مليحٍ تقولُ لي

    يداهُ وعيناهُ مقالاً مسلَّما

    Behold many a fine cook say to me,

    His hands and eyes recount a narrative believed,

  2. لنا الجفناتُ الغرُّ يلمعْنَ بالضَّحى

    وأسيافنا يقطرْنَ مِنْ نَجْدَةٍ دما

    For us eyelids flash at dawn,

    And our swords drip with blood from Najd.
