رأيتُ الفقيرَ في المرقَّعةِ التي

على لطفِهِ دلَّتْ وحسْنِ طباعِهِ

Showed his gentleness and good nature

بخدَّيْهِ ريحانُ الحواشي محقَّقٌ

إلى الثلثِ والفضّاحُ تحتَ رقاعِهِ

The basil on his cheeks was genuine

Down to one-third, and the slanderer beneath his slipper
