إنَّ للشامِ فراتاً

لم تصلْ مصرُ إليها

The Levant has an Euphrates

That Egypt has never reached

كمْ بمصرٍ من وجوهٍ

نَفَضَ النيلُ عليها

How many faces in Egypt

Upon which the Nile has sprinkled
