1. أفدي الذي صدغُهُ لامٌ وحاجبُهُ

    نونٌ وقامتُهُ ممشوقةً أَلِفُ

    I sacrifice myself for the one whose temple is wounded,

    His eyebrow is coquettish, his figure is slender like an Alif.

  2. حروفُ خطٍ مِنَ الوجهينِ هنَّ لنا

    إنَّا لَنطلبُها منهُ فينحرفُ

    The letters of inscription from his cheeks are,

    We seek them yet he shies away.
