ناشدْتُهُ أنتَ نحوي

فشدَّدَ الياءَ عامدْ

I implored, "You are my ambition,"

But he insisted on the extra yaa.

وقلتُ أنتَ كريمٌ

فقالَ والكافُ زايدْ

And I said, "You are generous,"

But he retorted the extra kaf is redundant.
