أَفَلَ الأُلَى كَانُوا نُجُو

ماً لِلْوَرَى فَالْكَوْنُ مُظْلِمْ

Have the noble ones faded, they were

A light for all so the universe darkens

وَتَنَاكَرَ النَّاسُ الْحَديِثَ ال

حَقّ وَفْتُقِدَ الْمُعَلِّمْ

And people denied the true discourse

So I miss the teacher

أَنَا كَاتِبُ السُّلْطَانِ مَا

طَالَعْتُ قَطُّ كِتَابَ مُسْلِمْ

I'm the sultan's scribe, I've never

Read a Muslim's book

إِلاَّ سُخَاماً قَادِحاً

فِي الدِّينِ وَاللَّهُ الْمُسَلِّمُ

Except foolishness, blasphemous
