لقدْ زارَ الجَزيرَةَ منْكَ بحْرٌ
يُمِدُّ فليْسَ نَعْرِفُ منْهُ جَزْرا
Indeed, a sea from you has visited the island,
surging on—we know no ebb from it.
أعَدْتَ لَها بعَهْدِكَ عَهْدَ موسى
سَمِيَّكَ فهْيَ تَتْلو منْهُ ذِكْرا
Through your reign, you restored to it the age of Moses,
your namesake; thus it recites a remembrance of him.
أقَمْتَ جِدارَها وأفَدْتَ كَنْزا
ولوْ شِئْتَ اتّخَذْتَ عليْهِ أجْرا
You raised its wall and bestowed a treasure,
though, had you wished, you could have taken payment for it.
