هَذي ثَمانٌ قد قَطَعْنَ الدُّجى

في سَيْرِها مُعْتَبَرٌ للحِجا

These eight have crossed the dark night

In their journey an example for the pilgrim

مرّتْ وقدْ نالَ بها آمِلٌ

ما شاءَ منْ أوطارِهِ وارْتَجى

They passed and a hopeful obtained

What he wished of its places and longed for

فجَرّدَ العَزْمَ الذي ما نَبا

والتَحَف الليلَ الذي قد سَجا

So he strengthened the resolve that did not fail

And held onto the night that had passed

يردُّهُ الخَوْفُ ويَدْعو بِهِ

إذا أطاعَ الخَوفَ داعِي الرَّجا

Fear drives him back and he calls upon it

When fear obeys the caller of hope

قدْ قَطَعَ البَرَّ فقال الوَجَى

واقْتَحَمَ البحْرَ فقالَ النَّجا

He crossed the land so it said farewell

And plunged into the sea so it said survive

والْتَذّ بالباقِي فحَثَّ الخُطَى

ومَرّ بالفانِي فَما عَرَّجا

And held onto what remains so the steps hurried

And passed by what is fleeting so did not waver

موْلايَ هذا نَهْجُ أهْلِ الهَوى

فاسْمَحْ لمَنْ قارَبَ أو لَجّجا

My Master this is the approach of the passionate

So allow whoever comes near or stumbles

واسْلُكْ منَ السّيْرِ بهِ مَنْهَجاً

عنْ مادِحٍ جلَّ وعمّنْ هَجا

And take from traveling in it an approach

From one who praises the Glorious and from one who blamed

ولتَقْرَأ النُّسْخَةَ واتْرُكْ الى

سِرِّ المَعاني خَطَّها المُدْمَجا

And read the copy and leave the secret

Of the meanings - its lines interwoven

وكيفَ لا يُحْرِزْ إرثَ العُلَى

منْ وَرِثَ الأنْصارَ والخَزْرَجا

And how can one not secure the inheritance of the sublime

One who inherited the supporters and allies
