تَخالَفَ جنْسُ الشّوْقِ والحُكْمُ واحِدٌ

وكلُّ مُحِبٍّ في الكَمالِ ومُشْتاقُ

The nature of longing differs, yet judgment is one

And every lover seeks perfection and yearns

فمَعْنَى اشْتِياقِ الأرْضِ للغَيْثِ حاجَةٌ

ومَعْنى اشْتِياقِ الغيْثِ للأرْضِ إشْفاقُ

The meaning of the earth's longing for rain is need

And the meaning of the rain's longing for earth is compassion
