كَأَنَّمَا البُنِّيُّ إِذْ أَفْرَطَتْ
زُرْقَةُ لَحْظٍ مِنْهُ فَتَّانْ
As though al-Bunayy, when excessive grew
the blue of his gaze—so beguiling in him!—
مَزْبَلَةٌ قَدْ فُتِّحَتْ فَوْقَهَا
ثِنْتَانِ مِنْ نَوَّارِ كَتَّانْ
were a dunghill, above which had opened
two blossoms of flax.
