1. أهْلاً بطَيْفِكَ زائِراً أو عائِداً

    تَفْديكَ نَفْسي غائِباً أو شاهِدا

    Welcome, your apparition—whether visiting or returning.

    My soul would ransom you, whether absent or present.

  2. يا مَنْ على طيْفِ الخَيالِ أحالَني

    أتظُنّ جَفْني مثْلَ جفْنِكَ راقِدا

    O you who have consigned me to imagination’s phantom,

    Do you think my eyelid sleeps, as yours does?

  3. ما نِمْتُ لكنّ الخَيالَ يُلمُّ بي

    فيُجِلُّهُ طرْفي فيطْرُقُ ساجِدا

    I have not slept, yet the apparition visits me;

    My gaze reveres it, then bows low in prostration.
