1. ظَمِئَتْ إِلَى السُّقْيَا الأَبَاطِحُ وَالُّربَى

    حَتَّى دَعَوْنَا الْعَامَ عَاماً مُجْدِبَا

    The pastures and the deserts thirst for the watering places,

    Until we called the year a barren year,

  2. وَالْغَيْثُ مَسْدُولُ الْحِجَابِ وَإِنَّمَا

    عَلِمَ الْغَمَامُ قُدُومَكُمْ فَتَأَدَّبَا

    And rain being implored drew down the veils, but only

    The clouds learned of your coming and then adorned themselves.
