1. تَرَفَّعَ عَنْ سُلْطَانِ لَحْظِكَ حَاجِبُهْ

    وَمِنْ مِثْلِ هذَا الأَمْرِ يَعْجَبُ عَاجِبُهْ

    His brow spurned the dominion of your glance,

    And it amazes the admiring that such affairs could be.

  2. وَمَا هُوَ إلاَّ قَائِمٌ فَوْقَ رَأَسِه

    يُوَفَّى لَهُ مِنْ مَنْصِبِ الْمُلْكِ وَاجِبُهْ

    Yet he stands erect over his head

    Receiving from the station of kingship what is due.
