لِلَّهِ دَرَّكَ مِنْ أَخٍ

جَمِّ الْفَوَاضِلِ وَالْفَضَائِلْ

For God's sake, how precious you are, O brother

Embodying all virtues and merits

رَعْيُ الرَّسَائِلِ شَأْنُهُ

فِي الْبُعْدِ أَوْ رَعْيُ الوَسَائِلْ

Conveying messages is his purpose

Whether from afar or directly

مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ خُلُقٍ وَمِنْ

خَلْقٍ وَمِنْ بَأْسٍ وَنَائِلْ

Whatever you wish for of manners and nature

Of valor and attainments

شِيَمٌ إذَا مَا شِمْتَ بَا

رِقُ عَهْدِهَا بالْعِهْدِ سَائِلْ

A mark of honor when you sense its

Fragrance and the pact renews its solicitation

وَشَمَائِلٌ مِثْلُ الشَّمَا

لِ سَرَتْ بأَنْفَاسِ الْخَمَائِلْ

And qualities like the north

Wind that blew with the breaths of determination

إمَّا جَنَحْتَ لِوُدِّهِ الضَّا

حِي فَدَوْحُ الْعَهْدِ مَائِل

Whether you inclined to his overflowing love

The pact sways from its straight path

صَافٍ إذَا كَدِرَ الصَّفِيُّ

وَافٍ إذَا بَخِسَ الْمُكَائِلْ

Pure when the sincere one became turbid

Loyal when the swindler shortchanged

وَجَلاَ صَدَى هَمِّي وَأَدْ

هَمَهُ بَشَأْوِ النَّفْسِ جَائِلْ

The echo of my anxiety roared

And his worries with the soul's discontent roared

وَأَفَادَنِي زَمَنِي بِهِ

فَحلَوْتُ مِنْ زَمَنِي بِطَائِلْ

He made my time fruitful through him

So I delighted in my time without futility
