My beloved friends, when you come to Tariq's abode,

May God water that land with his clouds' downpour.

Do not neglect to convey from your brother

A gift of loving greetings in his generous peace

To a dwelling of kingdom and faith that camps

With pillars of glory and bounty beneath its tents,

Encampments of might like stars surrounding

The full moon at its peak in the darkest night.

And say to the Prince of Believers, greetings

From a devoted lover captured in passion's snare.

He left your dwelling willingly out of duty

Yet left behind a heart content with its place.
