1. عِذارٌ كَما دبَّ الحُبابُ على الورْدِ

    مَحاسِنُهُ أرْبَتْ على الحَصْرِ والعَدِّ

    Persuasion crept over the rose like dew

    Its beauties multiplied on the mat and tent rope

  2. سَعى نحْوَ وَردِ الثّغْرِ وانْسابَ نحْوَهُ

    فتَحْسِبُهُ نمْلاً تدِبُّ الى شُهْدِ

    It moved towards the rosebud mouth and glided towards it

    You'd think it an ant creeping towards nectar

  3. فَيا ألِفاً للقَدِّ هلْ منْ إمالَةٍ

    ويا حَرْفَ لِينِ العطْفِ هلْ لكَ من مَدِّ

    O slender waist, is there no bending?

    O letter of softness in gentleness, is there no lengthening?
