عنْ أثاثٍ ومنْزِلٍ وعَقارِ

O son of Abdullah, be patient

كيفَ يأسى على خسارَةِ جُزْءٍ

مَنْ يَرى الكُلَّ في سَبيلِ الخَسارِ

How can one grieve the loss of a part

When he sees the whole is lost anyway

هدَفٌ لا تَني سِهامُ الليالي

عنْ سِباقٍ تُجاهَهُ وبِدارِ

A target the arrows of nights do not miss

Competing towards it insistently

واحِدٌ طائِشٌ وثانٍ مُصيبٌ

ليسَ يُنْجي منْها اشْتِمالُ حِذارِ

One stray and another accurate

No shielding or caution can protect from it

غيْرَ ذي الدّارِ صرِّفِ الهمَّ فيها

فمُناخُ الرّحيلِ ليسَ بدارِ

Except the Lord of the abode who disposes worries in it

The climate of departure is no dwelling
