We wore but did not don the times, and we wore out,
While others follow in our footsteps to ruin.
We are deluded by hopes while life slips away,
But returning to God was not our first concern.
What then can we expect time to await? What can we expect?
It yielded not to stern warning, nor did it bend to us.
We rewarded God's work with the worst repayment,
Nor did we heed the forerunners of excellence.
So O Lord, deal with us as You are worthy,
With pardon, and mend our fractures, You are our Master.
