أثارَ سُراها والدِّيارُ نَوازِحُ

سَنا بارِقٍ منْ مَطْلَعِ الوَحْي لائِحُ

Its homes and dwellings aroused longing,

With the shining early dawn of revelation beaming,

سَفائِنُ تَسْتَفّ الفَلا فكأنّها

سَفائِنُ في بَحْرِ السّرابِ سَوابِحُ

Ships braving waves as if they are

Ships swimming in the sea of mirage gleaming,

إلَيْكَ رَسولَ اللهِ شُدّتْ نُسوعُها

وغادَرَها الإدْلاجُ وهْيَ طلائِحُ

To you, O Messenger of Allah, their determination tightened

And the darkness left them shining.

تَحَمّلْنَ منْ زُوّارِ قَبْرِكَ فِتْيَةً

تُواصِلُ في ذاتِ الهُدَى وتُنازِحُ

They endured from the visitors of your tomb some youths

Who adhere to the guidance and dissent.

همُ القُضْبُ إنْ مالُوا معَ الذِّكْرِ خَشْيَةً

وإنْ رَجّعوهُ فالحَمامُ الصّوادِحُ

They are most humble if they incline with remembrance out of awe

And if they recite it then doves cooing loud.

حَنانَيْكُما يا صاحِبَيَّ بمُغْرَمٍ

جَوانِحُهُ نحْوَ الحَجيجِ جَوانِحُ

Your two companions, how I yearn for them

Their wings toward the pilgrims flapping.

أقامَ يُعاني الشّوْقَ عنْ قَدَرٍ ومَنْ

أقامَ علَى عُذْرٍ كمَنْ هوَ رائِحُ

One endured longing without being able to attain

And one remained with excuses like one departing.

تَدانَى هَوىً لمّا تَباعَدَ منزِلاً

فَها هُوَ دانٍ في الزِّيارَةِ نازِحُ

Love drew near when the home was far

So here it is, getting closer, migrating.

وها أنْتَ يا إنسانَ عيْنِ يَقينِه

برَوْضَةِ مَنْ حازَ المَحاسِنَ سارِحُ

And here you are, O human, the eye of his certainty

In the meadow of the one who attained the most beautiful traits traveling.

كدَحْتَ الى رَبّ الجَمال مُلاقِياً

فَيا أيُّها الإنسانُ إنك كادِحُ

You struggled to the Lord of Beauty meeting

So O man you really are struggling.

هَنيئاً لكُم يا زائِري تُرْبَةَ الهُدَى

بُلوغَ المُنى والسّعْيُ في اللهِ ناجِحُ

Congratulations to you, pilgrims of the soil of guidance

For attaining your goal with striving for God succeeding.

حَلَلْتُمْ بمَثْوى خَيْرِ مَنْ وَطِئَ الثّرى

وأكْرَمِ مَنْ ضَمّتْ صَفاً وصَفائِحُ

You descended upon the abode of the best to walk the earth

And most generous whose plain and hills are terminating.

مَعاهِدُ فيهِنّ المَلائِكَةُ العُلى

غَوادٍ بتَنْزيلِ الكِتابِ رَوائِحُ

The exalted angels frequented them

When the Book descended clouds drifting.

أفاءَ علَيْها اللهُ أفْياءَ نُورِه

فَفيهِنّ منْ دارِ السّلامِ ملامِحُ

God shined on them the manifestations of His light

So in them the traits of the Abode of Peace gleaming.

تبَوّأهَا مِنْ خِيرَةِ الرّسْلِ مَنْ سَمَتْ

بهِ ليْلَةَ المِعْراجِ فيها المَطامِحُ

It reached the most exalted spot of the Throne

Those sublime and towering ascents.

وبالأفُقِ الأعْلى منَ العَرْشِ قدْ سَمَتْ

سَجاياهُ يا لَلّهِ تِلْكَ السّجائِحُ

Messenger of humanity came with truth so

The clear proofs in the horizons of certainty beamed.

رَسولُ البَرايا جاءَ بالصّدْقِ فامّحَتْ

بنورِ هُداهُ التّرَّهاتُ الصّحاصِحُ

His successor delivering his Lord's message

Trustworthy regarding Islam to God counseling.

مُبَلّغُهُمْ أهْدى رِسالاتِ رَبِّهِ

أمينٌ على الإسلامِ في اللهِ ناصِحُ

A rescuer yet my sins and soul, my soul

And my senses are witnesses against me watching.

مُغيثٌ ودَعْوَى المُذْنِبينَ خَطيئَتي

ونَفْسي نَفْسي والشّهودُ الجَوارِحُ

For him are the manifest miracles as if they are

Flashes in the horizons of certainty flaring.

لهُ المُعْجِزاتُ المُعْجِزاتُ كأنّها

بُروقٌ بآفاقِ اليَقينِ لوائِحُ

Like his informing of the unseen, for with him

Are keys to the doors of the unseen secrets latching.

كإخْبارِهِ بالغائِباتِ فعنْدَهُ

لأبوابِ أسْرارِ الغُيوبِ مَفاتِحُ

And on the day of Badr when he threw a handful of dirt

The multitudes of polytheism turned and fled running.

وفي يومِ بَدْرٍ إذْ رَمَى قَبْضَةَ الثّرى

فولّتْ جُموعُ الشِّرْكِ وهْيَ جَوامِحُ

And he was given the wooden stick in the midst of the struggle

So a sword from it to shed blood came gushing.

وأُعْطي عَسيبَ النّخْلِ في حوْمَةِ الوَغَى

فهُزَّ حُسامٌ منْهُ للدّمِ سافِحُ

He called upon God to send rain so His sky responded

With rains from clouds pouring down fast flooding.

دَعا اللهَ يَسْتَسْقي فلبّتْ سَماؤهُ

بواكِفَةِ القَطْرِ السّحابُ الدّوالِحُ

And he threw to the rear of the army his cloak

So it was generous to him though stingy and measuring.

وألقَى بأخْلافِ الشِّياهِ يَمينَهُ

فجادَتْ بهِ وهْيَ الضّروعُ الشّحائِحُ

And the thirst of the army was quenched by the water of his well

For God has there overflowing springs bursting.

وروّى ظِماءَ الجيْشِ ماءُ بَنانِهِ

فلِلّهِ أمْواهٌ هُناكَ سَوائِحُ

And on the night of his birth manifestations emerged

Continuously for God among us flaring.

وفي ليْلَةِ المِيلادِ لاحَتْ شَواهِدٌ

تَوالَتْ بِها للّهِ فِينا المَنائِحُ

The palaces of Syria were illuminated by them and the

Features of what they encompassed were uncovered.

أضاءَتْ قُصورُ الشّامِ منْهُنّ وانْجَلَتْ

مَعالِمُ ما ضُمَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الأباطِحُ

And the palace of Chosroes was guided to it in awe

And the fires of Persia were extinguished from it blasting.

وهُدَّ لَها إيوانُ كِسْرى مَهابَةً

وأُخْمِدَ منْ نِيرانِ فارِسَ لافِحُ

The valley of Samawa parted for it and recoiled

وغاضَ بِها وادِي السّماوةِ فانْثَنَتْ

تقَلِّصُ ذَيلَ الخَصْبِ فيهِ المَسارِحُ

Contracting the tail of fertility in it encroaching.

And the sword of the king saw a vision so

وأبْصَرَ سَيْفُ المُلْكِ رُؤْيا فأصْبَحَتْ

لتَذْكارِها تَرْتاعُ منْهُ الجَوارِحُ

His senses were alarmed by remembering it quaking.

And his soothsayers informed him that his land

وأعْلَمَهُ كَهّانُهُ أنّ أرْضَهُ

أُتيحَ لَها منْ سَيّدِ العُرْبِ فاتِحُ

Was opened by the Master of the Arabs vanquishing.

So who is like the Messenger of God a refuge

فمَنْ كرَسولِ اللهِ للخَلْقِ ملْجَأ

إذا طوّحَتْهُمْ للزّمانِ الطوائِحُ

When afflictions from time over people came crashing.

His care for sinners is great

عنايَتُهُ بالمُذْنِبينَ عظيمةٌ

إذا عَظُمَتْ يومَ الحِسابِ الفضائِحُ

When on the Day of Judgment sins are exposed blazing.

And we followed his guidance so we were guided by his companionship

وإنّا اقْتَدَيْنا فاهْتَدَيْنا بصَحْبِهِ

وما صَحْبُهُ إلا النّجومُ اللّوائِحُ

And his companionship is nothing but stars shining.

They eradicated devils of misguidance and his

أبادُوا شَياطينَ الضّلالِ وزَيّنَتْ

سَماءَ رُسومِ الحَقِّ منْهُمْ مَصابِحُ

Path of truth was adorned by them illuminating.

And the dawn of their certainty dispelled the night of doubt

وأذْهَبَ لَيْلَ الشّكّ صُبْحُ يَقينِهمْ

فأسْفَرَ منْ وَجْهِ الحَقائِقِ واضِحُ

So the face of realities became unambiguous beaming.

And for the upright religion proofs were established

وقامَتْ علَى الدّين الحَنيفِ أدِلّةٌ

تَبَيّنَ مَرْجوحٌ بهِنّ وراجِحُ

By them falsehoods were refuted clearly convincing.

They are the highest ones who bought guidance with their souls

أُولاكَ الأُلى بالأنْفُسِ اشْتَروا الهُدى

فتَجْرُهُمْ في جنّةِ الخُلْدِ رابِحُ

So it draws them into the Garden of Eternity far-reaching.

They shepherded the right of the Messenger’s will

رَعَوْا لرَسولِ اللهِ حَقَّ وَصاتِهِ

فذاعَتْ بهِمْ في المُسْلِمينَ النّصائِحُ

So advice among the Muslims spread from them disseminating.

And there still remains among them in Islam leaders

ومازالَ في الإسْلامِ منْهُمْ أئِمّةٌ

تُناضِلُ عنْ دِينِ الهُدى وتُكافِحُ

Who champion the religion of guidance and stand unwavering.

And from their children they beget every supporter

وتُنْجِبُ منْ أبْنائِها كلَّ ناصِرٍ

يَفُلُّ شَباةَ الخَطْبِ والخطْبُ فادِحُ

Who makes the armies of adversity retreat evacuating.

So who is like my Lord Yusuf

فمَنْ مِثْلُ موْلانا الخَليفَةِ يوسُفٍ

إذا عدّدَ الفَخْرَ الملوكُ الجَحاجِحُ

When the boastful kings are enumerated vaunting?

His hands spread blessings in the land

أيادِيهِ سحّتْ في الوَرَى برَكاتُها

فأيّامُهُمْ بيضُ اللّيالي صَوالِحُ

So their days are righteous nights progressing.

Leader of guidance, best of those God granted rule

إمامَ الهُدى يا خيْرَ مَنْ بَذَلَ اللُّهى

وشادَتْ عُلاهُ المَعْلُواتِ الصّرائِحُ

And lofty pillars raised him elevating.

If the signs of caliphs in splendor are ambiguous

إذا اشتَبَهَتْ آيُ الخلائِفِ في النّدى

فآيُ نَداكَ المُحْكَماتُ الفَواتِحُ

Then your unambiguous signs are illuminating.

And if their sublime feats are narrated

وإنْ رُوِيَتْ عنْهُمْ عَوالي علائِهِمْ

فآثارُ عَلْياكَ الحِسانُ الصّحائِحُ

Then your great qualities are true and authenticating.

And if praise of virtues competes

وإنْ مِدَحٌ في المَكْرُماتِ تَعارَضَتْ

فأنْتَ الى الأدْنى منَ اللهِ جانِحُ

Then to the least of them you stand inclining.

You established the rituals of the birth of the Messenger

أقَمْتَ لمِيلادِ الرّسولِ شَعائِراً

بِها اللهُ عنْ ذَنْبِ المُسيئينَ صافِحُ

Through them may God forgive sins of the disobedient absolving.

The gentle breezes were proud with praise of Muhammad

تَباهَتْ بأمْداحِ الرّسولِ مُحمّدٍ

فطابَتْ بذِكْراها الرِّياحُ النّوافِحُ

For by the remembrance purity in them is diffusing.

When in it the pages of his praise are published

إذا نُشِرَتْ فيها صَحائِفُ مَدْحِهِ

وذاعَتْ بنَشْرِ الحَمْدِ منْها المَمادِحُ

And the eulogies through them are circulated infusing.

From the land of India caravans came to you

تَلقّتْكَ منْ أرْضِ الهُنودِ لَطائِمٌ

يَنِمُّ بِها مِنْ مِسْكِ دارينَ فائِحُ

From the scent of musk of the two abodes perfuming.

It is the blessed night, for you one night is enough

هيَ اللّيلةُ الغَرّاءُ حسبُكَ لَيلةً

بِها نَجْمُ دينِ اللهِ أزْهَرُ لائِحُ

In which the star of the religion of God shone dazzling.

When its horizon of light rose for me

إذا ما أضاءَتْ لي مَطالِعَ نورِها

فقَلْبي لَها زَنْدَ الفَصاحةِ قادِحُ

Then my heart for it became tinder of eloquence kindling.

So O night of the birth none like you deserves praise

فَيا لَيْلَةَ الميلادِ دونَكِ مِدْحَةً

وأيْسَرُ ما تُهْدَى إليْكِ المَدائِحُ

And easiest that eulogies to you are offered submitting.

If you accept its delegation with favor

وإنْ أنْتَ بالإقْبالِ قابَلْتَ وَفْدَها

فتَسْمَحُ بالأمْداحِ فيكَ القَرائِحُ

Then you gracefully accept the praises in you instilling.

You gave it life, reviver of guidance, rites

وأنْتَ لها أحْيَيْتَ يا مُحْيي الهُدى

فُروضاً بهِنّ اللهُ صَدْرَكَ شارِحُ

Through them God your chest expanded disclosing.

Congratulations, through your state satisfaction is achieved

يَميناً لقد قرّتْ بدَوْلتك الرِّضَى

عُيونٌ برَوْضِ العَدْلِ منْكَ سوارِحُ

Eyes in the meadow of justice from you gazing.

For people are only of two types: a praiser

فما الناسُ طُرّاً غيرُ صِنْفَيْنِ حامدٌ

على فَضْلِ ما تُولي وآخَرُ مادِحُ

Of the virtue you grant and another eulogizing.

Remain supporter of the religion so long as an opponent crouches

فدُمْ ناصِراً للدّينِ ما حَنّ نازِحٌ

وما افتَنّ في غُصْنِ الأراكَةِ صادِحُ

And so long as a rebel in the branch of the throne transgresses.
